In this version of the most brutal battle of World War 2, “Stalingrad” sees the events leading up to this bloody battle through the eyes of a German officer, Hans von Witzland (Thomas Kretchmann) and his platoon. Hans is a Lieutenant who comes to understand his Captain is sadistic and uncaring. Stuck in the city of Stalingrad and surrounded by Soviet soldiers. Then platoon has endured much and after having half his men wiped out and enough of the bloody conflict and betrayal by their own people, the men of the platoon lead an escape attempt with the help of a female Soviet officer; Irina (Dana Vávrová) from the city now surrounded by hundred of Soviet soldiers.
